A Primer

What you're about to read is play-by-play real-life adventure.  I traveled to India in 2012.  It was my first time out of the United States, and the first time I had left my wife at daughter for six weeks.

I was traveling solo; no guides, no group, no contacts.  I had no reservations except the first night (which fell through of course), and no clue what the hell I was signing up for.

It was a tremendous experience of self-reliance, flexibility, and listening to intuition.

This blog was written as the adventures were playing out.  To preserve the essence, the only editing that has been done is light.  I realize that some videos may no longer work, and I apologize for not fixing it.  I may come back and make it better.  But until then, enjoy as is.

If you're in to re-experience the whole shebang, including preparations, start here: T Minus 40 Days, or to just begin the journey on the post where I arrive in India, click here: Arriving in Country.

If you're just interested in some highlights, take your pick from the list below:

the stark realization of being in country alone.
a jungle trek on an elephant.
getting sick on an indian train.
desert standstorm / losing the camel.
a massage to remember.
the rough re-entry to the confines of society.
